Jiaogulan History and Origins
In the Guizo province in southern China it is not only common but to be expected that the residents live past one hundred years of age. This province shares many healthy and natural ways of life with neighboring provinces, and yet none of these neighbors enjoy this remarkable long life. After close study Chinese scientists and government officials realized that there was only one difference between the people of Guizo, who lived so very, very long, and the people in adjoining provinces – Jiaogulan.
Jiaogulan (Gynostemma Pentaphyllum) is a wild sagebrush called by the locals “Xiancao”, which roughly translates into English as “the herb of immortality”. The people of Guizo have long been drinking Jiaogulan tea to increase strength and energy, combat fatigue and stress, treat colds, the flu and infectious diseases, and as a general elixir. Modern research and testing supports all of these claims and much more, finding Jiaogulan to be a strong antioxidant and adaptogen effective in treating a wide range of health problems and promoting health and wellness.

Jiaogulan has so many health benefits, many of which have been known to the people of Guizo for a long time, and many more which scientific research and testing have uncovered. We provide an exhaustive list of these benefits on our Medical Benefits page, but briefly it has been found to reduce the chances of stroke and heart attack, treat chronic bronchitis, reduce cholesterol and increase good (HDL) cholesterol, modulate blood pressure, increase cardiac function, increase white blood cell count and act as an immuno-stimulant.
